The Pre-K Expansion Grant is a free preschool education program designed to prepare young children, ages 3 and 4, for success in elementary school and beyond.

Kids Maryland Child Services (KidsMCS) has been awarded this MSDE/Federal grant for the 2024-2025 school year, allowing us to offer:

  • Free Pre-K education from 9:00 am to 3:30 pm with lunch included. 🍎

  • Extended Program: we also offer an extended program before and after school hours, which can be covered by CCS or WPA vouchers if you qualify for those programs. 🕒

Where will the children attend?

  • Children will attend the Page Child Center

  • Location: 1300 Tamarack Rd, Silver Spring, MD 20904 (Inside William Tyler Page ES)

Who Can Apply?

  • Children who turn 3 or 4 years old before September 1, 2024.

  • Must meet the eligibility requirements.

Eligibility Requirements

Families will need to submit the following documentation:

  1. Child's birth certificate - The child must be 3 or 4 years old on or before September 1, 2024. 📅

  2. Photo identification of both parents/legal guardians and court documentation of custody (if applicable). 🆔

  3. Child's current immunization record. 💉

  4. Two proofs of residency:

    • Current property tax bill (if homeowner). 🏠

    • Current lease (if renter). 🏢

    • Current utility bill with name and address of resident. 📄

    • Proof of temporary cash assistance or SSI. 💵

    • Notarized Shared Housing Disclosure Form (MCPS Form 33-5-74). 📝

  5. Family income verification (including all persons working or receiving income in the household):

    • 2023 tax returns, including the two most recent pay stubs. 💲

    • W-2 forms. 🧾

    • If self-employed: submit Schedule C (profit and loss from business) and Form 1099. 📊

    • If unemployed: submit Maryland state unemployment letter. 📩

  6. Special education services (if applicable):

    • Individualized Education Program (IEP)

    • Proof of guardianship or foster care

    • Individualized Family Service Plan (IFSP)

    • 504 Plan 📚

  7. Child Care Subsidy/Working Parents Assistance voucher (if applicable). 🎟️

  8. Income Eligibility Chart 💲

To qualify for the Pre-K Expansion Grant, your total household income must be at or below 300% of the Federal Poverty Level (FPL).

The income limits are as follows:

  • For a household of 2: $61,320

  • For a household of 3: $77,480

  • For a household of 4: $93,600

  • For a household of 5: $109,740

  • For a household of 6: $125,880

  • For a household of 7: $142,020

  • For a household of 8: $158,160
